ANNOUNCING: Exeter’s RAMM will be joining us at the festival with talks and a fascinating exhibit celebrating seeds:
Artist Leonie Hampton and RAMM’s Contemporary Art Curator Lara Goodband will be in conversation discussing Hampton’s recent photography commission A Language of Seeds.
Leonie’s work explores RAMM’s collection of seeds and herbarium sheets in dialogue with her own photographs of seed experiments, the garden and family. Creating a ‘story about love, growth, family and the archaic wisdom of plants’ the new artwork places Hampton’s photographs of living and growing plants alongside that of the collected, dried seeds in the museum.
RAMM will also be bringing a brand-new exhibit to the festival where visitors can discover exotic and intriguing seeds from RAMM’s museum archives, and have a go at solving their mystery seed pod quiz! Find out more about RAMM’s new summer photography exhibitions – Léonie Hampton: A Language of Seeds, and Seedscapes: Future-Proofing Nature.
Plus, Exeter Seed Bank will be offering advice on wild seed planting and sharing knowledge about seed saving as an ancient craft. Take part in the Storied Seed Bank, a participatory community project that seeks to collect and record stories and memories of your favourite plants, and celebrate the importance of plants in people’s lives and the connections we have to them in the 21st century.
