New – Powderkeg’s Devon Bar at the Fest!

Another first for Toby’s Garden Festivals – Powderkeg’s Devonly Social Bar.

Selling only those drinks brewed, distilled, fermented, produced within the county, this is the ultimate Devon drinking experience!

Devon now produces a wonderful range of award winning drinks and leading the way in the botanical sense are Devon gins – from Devon Distilleries Gin and Dappa, Salcombe Gin, Wicked Wolf Gin from Exmoor plus world famous Plymouth Gin all using a wide range of botanical ingredients to create delicious spirits.

Our many ciders and beers are rightly world famous including Powderkeg Brewery, based in Woodbury Salterton near Exeter, which went straight to the top with its first award, having won Best Lager at The Beer Awards for its pilsner ‘Cut Loose’. This lager was described as “one of the 16 best beers in the world”.

Big award for a microbrewery tucked away in a corner of the Devon countryside.

Powderkeg Brewery is run by husband and wife team John and Jess Magill. John, who makes the beer, says “It’s really amazing. We’re overjoyed. Our intention has always been to make the best beer we can and it’s fantastic that has been recognised. But it does make me chuckle that a little Devon micro can be a world-beater when you simplify things down to just what is in the glass.”

Now John and Jess are turning their successful hands to celebrating the best of Devon drinking by coming up with this concept of The Devonly Social Bar.  And have chosen Toby’s Garden Festival  at Powderham Castle as their first venue.

Offering a wide range of home grown cordials, cocktails, beers and ciders, the team will also be offering tastings and talks.

Learn about edible flowers with Greens of Devon, hear how Pebblebed Vineyard make their award winning wines, and compare the differences in Devon gins.

You can also make your own gin to take home with Still On The Move, a unique gin distillery on the back of a campervan from Devon Distillery.
