What’s On for Children & Family Fun

We have loads to inspire and entertain children and families this year, located all around the site and on both days of the festival. Our Curious Gardener Marquee returns along with CREST (Conservation Rural Skills & Training) who are revealing the secrets of how plants can grow without soil in water – aka hydroponics. TrailArt are also here on a mission to get us all recycling and re-using, and who will be demonstrating how to make bird feeders from recycled plastic bottles.

Nearby in the Deer Park, you can learn bush-craft and fire-lighting with Running Deer or just hang about in one of the lovely Tot’s Tipis. If you love a big machine, head over to Coastal Recycling who are bringing their Giant Shredder which turns big branches into mush in an instant – perfect for topping up beds and borders.

Scared of heights? Then better avoid Teign Trees on the Castle Driveway! They’ll have you harnessed up and climbing in Powderham’s tree canopy in no time! If you prefer having two feet on solid ground, have a go at finding underground water by dowsing – do you have the knack?? – with The Devon Dowsers on the Rose Lawn. On Saturday the sky-high stilt-walkers The Higher Beings are here and they are bringing a new friend, Dreckly Dragon – he’s big and blue and despite those big pointy teeth, he doesn’t bite!

And as if that wasn’t enough we have live music from artists from Glas-Denbury, with vocals from Joanna Cooke and Sadie Horler and harp from Katherine Grace plus fantastic healthy locally grown and produced food, and – don’t tell mum – not so healthy ice-cream, fudge, chocolate, cakes, crumpets, crepes…
