Fun fact! Did you know that dry stone walling has again this year topped the popularity lists when it comes to interest in rural crafts? We are delighted to bring this ancient craft to Toby’s Garden Festival for the first time in the form of demonstrations and workshops on both days at Powderham.
Interest in this form of building structures from stones without any mortar to bind them has blossomed in the last ten years for stone walls, garden terracing and boundaries- with workshops throughout the South West being sold out.
Dave Hunt who runs his own stone walling business in Devon will head the demos and workshops on the Powderham Castle estate. Dave is an instructor with the Devon Stone Walling Association, and he will be working with a small team to give a practical experience of stone walling principles.
Come along and have a go at putting some stones in place yourself.
Fri 2nd and Sat 3rd May 2025. Free to Festival visitors.
we have booked Early Bird tickets and would like to join the dry stone walling workshop. Can we reserve places in advance?
