UPDATE! This has now changed to a workshop where you can make yourself a FREE flower crown – for the first 80 visitors each -day – with help from the florists of British Academy of Floral Art.
With the Queen in our thoughts and the second day of Toby’s Garden Festival falling on Her Majesty’s official birthday, Saturday June 12, ambitious plans are afoot to celebrate her big day with a giant floral crown created by a team of talented local florists.
The floral crown, measuring over 1.5m tall and wide, is being created by Devon master florists, Julie Collins and Tina Parkes of The British of Academy of Floral Art assisted by academy students, using pinks bred by award-winning Dawlish nursery, Whetmans, along with colourful British blooms provided by Flowers from the Farm.
To mark the start of British Flowers Week (14 – 20 June), all the flowers are UK grown and the structure has been designed with an integral water source using upcycled containers.
Visitors to the festival on 11 and 12 June can see the stunning floral creation – and get a selfie in front of the crown – in the Castle Courtyard.
