Drought-resistant plants to the fore

Festival visitors will be the first to see and purchase sensational drought-resistant plants from one of the country’s newest nurseries: Primal Plants.

Toby’s Garden Festival will be the first show at which plants grown by nursery owner, Christine Arlford, will be on sale – a delight to those who want to add specialist plants into their garden which will thrive without a lot of water.

Christine was at the  RHS Chelsea Flower Show last year with her specialist plants and now, after experience with plant growers at both Burncoose Nursery and Surreal Succulents, she has responded to a call to branch out on her own and cater for one of the fastest growing sectors in the market place.

Palms, salvia, sedum, agave, sempervivum and alpines will all feature at her nursery stall.

“It is very exciting for me, ” says Christine. “Drought resistant plants are so popular with gardeners now as they take away some of the stresses which can come from hot dry summers and they are spectacular in their own right. I look forward to showing off my wonderful plants at the show!”

Find Primal Plants in the Garden Village at Toby’s Garden Festival on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 April at Powderham Castle.
