As part of our Food Drink Devon collab, Barny Butterfield, the apple tree and cider champ-founder of Sandford Orchards (Cider done Right) is joining us at the Festival on Friday 2 May.
For someone with such a vast knowledge of cider, he’s a remarkable raconteur! Not only that he’s very busy – mapping and preserving our local treasured apple trees for future generations. Come and hear all about and get your chops around a tasty sample of Sandford Cider while you’re about it.
Can’t wait till the festival? Cider fans might like to know that Sandford Orchards is once again opening up the cellar for their Tour of the Barrels of The Cider Works to the intrepid as part of their British Cider Week celebrations on Friday 25th April 2025.
The exclusive event is heralded as next level access, where you will get to taste juice from rare and unknown apple varieties and small batch ciders that may never see the light of day. The intimate tour will be followed by cheese and charcuterie platters, giving you a chance to sit and talk with Barny Butterfield and the cider makers to pick their brains further on all things cider.
