Festival visitors next May seem certain to be almost blinded by the flowers on show!
We are building up an impressive line-up of flower growers offering cut specimens to potted flowers and now joining us at Powderham will be Amelias Flower Farm, a working flower farm in South Devon, known for its colourful fields of seasonal blooms and relaxed Pick-Your-Own sessions.
The farm now runs a specialist on-site nursery with a simple goal: to help more people grow their own cut flowers successfully. The nursery focuses on raising jumbo plug plants—well-rooted, resilient young plants that establish quickly and deliver strong flowering results. These plugs are grown slowly on the farm, in the same climate and conditions that mature cut-flower crops thrive in.
The plant range is carefully curated, with an emphasis on hardy annuals and selected perennials chosen for their stem strength, vase life, and reliable performance. Many varieties are tried-and-tested favourites from the farm’s own beds, grown for years and selected because they produce beautiful, plentiful blooms.
Plug plants are young, pre-grown plants that offer an easy, fast, and economical way to establish flowers, fruits, herbs, and vegetables in your garden with minimal fuss and risk of failure. They are a halfway point between seeds and mature plants, making them a great option for beginners.
It will be worth the wait.
