We’re delighted to announce that Exeter’s Millbrook Retirement Village is set to sponsor Toby’s Garden Festival for a third year in a row. In 2019, Millbrook are sponsoring the Country Gardener Talks Tent, which is dedicated to the nursery growers attending the festival and who are talking on a range of plant species, including orchids, paeonies, climbers, coastal plants and air plants. The programme of talks runs both days and includes well-known Devon nursery-people such as Sara Ritterhausen of the award-winning Burnham Orchids nursery.
The first of its kind in Exeter, Millbrook – one of six Inspired Villages around the UK – is located in a tranquil setting close to the River Exe and just a stone’s throw from the centre of this historic cathedral city. Toby knows the village and many of residents from giving talks there and judging their annual gardening competitions.
Millbrook Village’s ethos is all about relaxing and enjoying your retirement with friends. At the heart of village life is Springbok Hall, a luxurious clubhouse with meeting places and top-class amenities. Think of it like a country club, although perhaps a touch more exclusive! It has its own private bar, restaurant and a residents’ lounge with well-stocked bookshelves and space to sit in comfort. Each aspect lends itself to a more sociable way of life. Other facilities include a pool, gym and studio and a bar and cinema for when you want to relax. The properties have balconies and patio terraces and borders, ideal for growing containers and hanging baskets, and sitting out in the sunshine with a glass of wine.
