What’s that beautiful noise we can hear? Why, it’s our fabulous musicians getting in tune for the Garden Festival at Powderham Castle! This May we have a heavenly host of songsters, guitarists, contemporary folk musicians and original singer-songwriters, all coming to serenade us while we load our trolleys, bags and every available pocket with plants!
Our old favourites, the ceilidh house band Cataclews return for both days – they’re the ones with the gorgeous flowery hats – having provided the backing track to the fest since we started six years ago. They’ve just recorded their new CD, Cuckoo’s Nest and even given us a mention on it! Let’s introduce the band – on bodhran we have Brian Cunningham, Christine Cunningham on melodeon, guitar and vocals, Steve Bussey on guitar and Frank Pickering on fiddle and vocals. They’re bound to get your foot stomping and if they can, maybe even join them for a jig.
New for 2019, we’ve hooked up with the brilliant music promoter, MamaPik Music, to bring the best of Devon’s musical talent to the festival! Pik supports young musicians and singer-songwriters across the county and south-west, helping to launch their careers and matching artists to venues while raising money for great causes, including Macmillan and via her new Sound Mind Sessions, mental health first aid courses for musicians and creatives.
Here’s the full line-up for both days, come and hear them in the Seating Tent near the lake!
